About the Artist
"Why my excitement has come back...."
"After 20 years of painting and drawing, I am only now, beginning to realise that there is more to life than just shading and blending with a brush. Abstract realism has taken me out of my comfort zone and rigid routine of fine detail, and has jump started me to a place I never knew existed!"
Playing Around With Inks
"I Never knew painting could be so much fun!" Julie goes on..."With inks there is no control or a lot of thought that goes into a painting like this, and it does amaze me what marks get left behind and different shapes that emerge. But this technique is normally done in layers so when you paint over it you choose what areas your going to keep."
Moving On as A Painter
Julie describing her usual technique at the time' "I always painted my subject source from either my I pad or phone. Sometimes it would be measured in grid form, but it took so long to prepare, I would draw it out and paint it so precisely making sure that every detail was exactly as my eye would see it and sometimes this would take weeks to finish!"

Challenging Yourself As An Artist
"I think it's important to venture out in all areas of art if you can, I have always challenged myself and always will, as there is so much to learn. I believe I was born to paint and bring joy into peoples homes and I will always continue to do that, because it makes me happy."
Julie's Book
Julie recently wrote and illustrated a children's story called 'Larry The Lost Leaf' intended for her four grandchildren, she said, "The story is about the life cycle of a leaf called Larry, and I am very proud of it. I was not intending for it to be published, it just happened and I am pleased to say that I have received lovely feedback not only from the children themselves, but the adults too!"

The Story Behind Her Book
Julie said "I walked onto a couple of autumn leaves and picked them up, I then looked up at the trees in the garden and questioned it's life cycle. Ideas popped into my head and 'Larry The Lost Leaf' was born!"
